Taking Stock of Your Writing

1. The main point of my story is that I found a love for creative writing that I never expected myself to have. I thought I had my mind made up about writing in general until I had to complete the final assignment for my creative writing class. The moral would be that you never know how you are going to feel about something until you try it.

2. My audience would be my classmates. I assumed that my topic was relatable to them because at one point or another, we have all had to do something we didn't like or didn't want to do, especially in school. Knowing that none of the other students in this class were in my high school creative writing class or knew me in high school, I had to provide details about my class and me to set up the story. I didn't want my tone to seem too professional, so I kept it informal.

3. I got feedback from my classmates in class when we were brainstorming topics for our narratives. I had a couple of other ideas that I was also considering, so the feedback wasn't directly for the topic I chose. During the in-class labs, I remember talking with other students about kinds of writing we had to do in previous English classes. This indirectly helped me pick my creative writing final for my narrative because I knew it would be relatable. I got support on my rough draft from a classmate that made me glad I chose the topic I did.

4. It was interesting just to time travel back to when I was actually writing my creative writing story. It brought back a lot of memories of that process, which made the narrative easier to write. So that was interesting-to write easily about the hardest writing assignment I've had. It was interesting also to write about my writing and tell a story about myself using a lot of details. We don't get to do that very often in English classes, as we are normally writing analyses of other people's writing. I learned how to write a narrative using the five key components.

5. I'm wondering what areas of my narrative I could approve on and how I could make my conclusion better. I think my narrative strong points are that its relatable and honest.
